Zanna's mother died.
Of a disease of the brain called Huntington's.
She'd been showing symptoms, but they didn't expect her to die this fast.

Zanna had to go back home and get tested for Huntington's--it's a disease that is passed down through generations.
She also has to get a psych eval to make sure that if she is diagnosed, she won't kill herself.
And she probably won't be back.
But for Lan's sake, she might.
