Okay. So Zanna had heard that Happy Feet was the cutest movie...in the history of movies, basically. So that's why she was here. Not because she actually had someone to go with--that'd never happen. And not because she planned on meeting up with an extremely attractive guy and making out in the theater--though she may not turn down the chance if it arose. She was actually here to see a movie.
Before, she'd been planning on seeing the movie Borat. But a friend had just gone to see it and had said it was disgusting, and extremely racial, perverted, and stereotypical, all of which Zanna wasn't quite fond of. So instead, she was going to watch cute little penguins type-dance in place of singing. Maybe it wasn't the 'normal' eighteen-year-old thing to do, but it sure as hell would be fun. Plus, who didn't love plastic-butter covered popcorn that could make you gain five pounds in one sitting? And who could turn down stale gummy bears? Well...not her. Definitely not Zanna. Obviously.
That night--yes, it was night. But not really. Only six-thirty or around there. But anyway, on to her clothing. Upon her torso was a gray shirt with a shiney rainbow across the chest. She wasn't actually a...rainbow-person, but she simply loved the shape. The idea. Of finding gold at the end of it. Of course, that would require it having an end, first. Since, though, it was only a trick of light, a rainbow didn't technically have an end and, therefor, no pots of gold. Damn. Anyway, back to the clothes. On her legs she wore a pair of skinny blue jeans with some random band signatures. Yes. The actual signatures of the actual guys in the actual bands. Lets remember, she's still got money. She can still afford to get backstage at concerts. She can still get to meet the people in most of her favorite bands. She just doesn't flaunt it.
And her shoes were a soft yellow color, matching the yellow in the rainbow on her shirt. Apart from the norm, she wore a slim-fitting black hoodie with the words "Pretty, pretty princess," stitched on the left part of the chest in small pink lettering. It wasn't all too special, but it was warm, and that's all she cared about. Movie theaters tend to get cold.
"One adult for Happy Feet." And then she was inside.

In front of the movie theatre, an old yellow cab pulled up slowly. After the eighteen year old passenger paid the driver and then exited her cab, she then stood on the pavement in front of the Gemini Movie joint. She stood at her full 5 foot 2 inch height wearing odd flat shoes on her feet. The tips came to a point at the front by her toes and they boasted a green and black striped design throughout. Fit snugly at her hips were a pair faded flair jeans, an article of clothing complimentary to her last trip to the thrift store. Not that she had to shop there, simply because she chose to. A bright blue screen tee, boasting the words “Bazooka Bubblegum” in pink lettering, clothed her torso. And to complete her get-up of mismatched attire, a black zip-up hoodie, left open in front, was worn with that.
Roanna Davies’ straight black and reddish hair hung freely around her shoulders. A trip to the movies in the early evening couldn’t technically have been classified as unusual for her, but it wasn't something she’d actually done before. Her thoughts on the matter had simply been, Ah, what the hell? It’s not like I have anything else to do anyway. It was too early to go out to a club, and she’d already been to the café to help her dad earlier that day. So it didn’t hurt much to find a way to kill some time.
Approaching the ticket window, she glanced at the overhead to see what was playing at that time. An amused smirk crossed her face as she spoke to the ticket sales rep, “I’ll take a ticket to that penguin feet happy movie, por favor Senior.” The guy didn’t seem amused, only simply telling her the total and then handing back the change to the bill she given him. “Enjoy your show…” he muttered gravely. Stick in the mud, she thought with a sneer.
Once inside she got in line at the refreshment counter, doing a little half skip as she finished to treck toward it. “Guess what! I’m going to watch the dancing penguins get their groove on,” she randomly murmured to the gruff looking woman standing in front of her. “What are you gonna see?” She then asked The woman eyeballed her suspiciously, obviously annoyed, and simply chose not to respond, turning away completely. Geez, what came up and bit you in the ass? Roe mentally asked the woman, not really surprised by her reaction.

Woah. Another girl--that wasn't seven--going to see the lovely dancing penguins. Zanna was surprised. She was...yes, basically just surprised. "You're going to watch the penguins too?" she asked, turning to face the person who she'd heard speaking before. "I thought I was the only above-ten year old that even wanted to see it," she remarked, small smile coming onto her face.
As she realized she was at the front of the line for snacks, Zanna had to turn away and order something. "May I have a small bag of popcorn and...a water bottle please?" she asked, looking at the obviously bored cashier behind the counter. Without a change in her facial expression, the woman nodded, got some popcorn and a water bottle and slid it across the counter to Zanna's waiting arms. After paying and saying the 'Thank you' she needed to, she turned back to face the other girl. "I'm Zanna."

Roe promptly smiled as her brown eyed gaze focused on the female looking to be about her age who’d kindly spoken to her. “Yep,” she confirmed, “figured I could use a new experience, I guess I don’t really know anything about this movie though, you heard much?” To Zanna’s last comment she couldn’t help but let out a laugh, allowing it to fade while the girl had approached the counter for her refreshments.
When Zanna had shifted back around, Roanna responded with the introduction of her own name in return. Stepping forward slightly, she reached out her hand to shake Zanna’s. “It’s quite a pleasure to meet you my friend. I go by Roe,” she stated. “And you know, it only takes a cool person to go see this Happy Feet movie. I mean, we could learn something from those little guys you know? Maybe some new dance steps. It’s really everyone else who doesn’t know what they’re missing,” she continued with a laugh.
As the two people in front of her in line moved through quickly, Roanna found herself at the register. She never was shy about her treats and went ahead and loaded on the goodies. “I’ll have a blueberry slurpee, a bag of twizzlers, and uh… some whoppers to go with that please,” she said to that bored looking cashier. After exchanging the money for her treats, Roe shifted her attention back to Zanna. “So would you care fore company for the duration of the showing? I’ll share, ” she asked her cheerfully and revealing her sweet ‘gold’ that she just purchased. Of course, her feelings weren’t going be hurt if the girl declined because Roe just bounced back that way, but she certainly had no objection to company.

"One of my friends saw it, I think. She just said it was really cute and...inspirational or something weird," Zanna replied, shrugging a shoulder and plucking a piece of popcorn from her bag. Putting it slowly into her mouth, she ate it and glanced once more around the lobby of the theater. It may've looked like she was looking for someone or something in particular, but no, she was merely identifying her surroundings.
As a response to her second statement, Zanna nodded and let out a soft chuckle. "Yes. Perhaps we'll just magically pick up the ability to tap like the little fellas." She doubted it, with herself, but maybe Roe would. "Oh, it's nice to meet you, by the way," she added, as she had yet to say that already.
"Company. That sounds really good," she agreed with a light bob of her head. "I would have even accepted if you hadn't offered me some of your treasure," she added, small grin coming to her face as she gestured to her fellow movie-goer's items of food and drink. "I'll share any of my stuff with you, if you want any." Because she was nice, and polite, that's why. She wasn't another one of those stuck up, snobby 'everything is mine, and I own everything' sort of girls. Luckily.

“Excellent,” Roe remarked enthusiastically upon hearing Zanna’s agreement to her suggestion. She could definitely learn to like this girl, it just wasn’t like a fellow New Yorker to be so kind. One thing the she particularly loved about the city was that every aspect of life was always in fast motion, but there were also an awful lot of assholes out there. Everyone was in such a hurry to get where they were going that it seemed like they’d forgotten how to act with common decency. Not that Roe technically categorized herself as decent, but she didn’t think of herself as an asshole either.
Pushing away her jumbled thoughts, a genuine smile crossed Roanna’s face. “Oh good, that makes me feel good that you weren’t just bribed into accepting then,” she muttered, “Nonetheless, my offer still stands.” Her brown eyes scanned Zanna’s popcorn. “Alright, but I’ll only want some of yours if you want some of mine,” she said with a laugh.
Next she shifted her slurpee and candy to her left arm, holding the items against her torso with her forearm. With her right hand, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her movie ticket. “Sooo… theater four is it?” she asked, squinting at the print on the ticket as if it were a complicated math problem. “Ready to hit the flick?”

"Definitely," Zanna replied, nodding her head in a agreement. She hoped this girl would come to be her friend but, if not, the two would at least know who one another was. That was always good so that if they were ever somewhere where they felt akward--a part, for example--they could notice each other and start talking. Not feel quite as akward. Or, for another example, if they were ever in the same place and were being approached by someone they didn't want to talk to, they could just be like, 'Oh. There's my friend. I have to talk to her. See you later.'
"Hah. I could never turn down candy," she remarked, smiling and shaking her head. She was childish, she knew, but that was just the way Zanna was. She wasn't going to change for anyone. Plus, it wasn't like she could just go into her brain and change herself. Life doesn't exactly work that way.
Zanna shrugged before taking her own ticket out. Reading it, she nodded. "Yes, theater four here we come," she said, smiling once more before letting her arm drop back down to hang at her side.

Roanna laughed, “Well to be honest with you, I could never turn down candy either, so I know exactly where your coming from.” Her brown eyes scanned the atmosphere from where the two of them were standing. Immediately, her search ended when she spotted the sign for theatre number four above one of the doorways not far away. “And you know, most people laugh when I say this, but I’d swear that it’s like…” she began.
“A drug,” Roe finished after a moment’s pause, “Candy is just like a drug.” And then at a leisurely pace, she set out for their theatre. A sudden chuckle escaped her lips as an idea struck her, “You know, if they can make a movie about penguins, why not something about fighting a candy addiction? Seriously, now that would be a movie going experience.” She elaborated on her point by waving her ticket around in the air, her arm seemingly taking on it’s own expression with her words. “Or, at least that would be a movie that I’d go and watch,” she added with a shrug, knowing that she was rather strange and deranged compared to most people.
“So when your not out on an adventure to see a movie about dancing penguin movies, what else do you do in your free time Miss Zanna?” Roe asked curiously along the way.
