It was about mid afternoon when this eighteen year old female was aimlessly wandering the crowded Fifth Avenue sidewalk. Her dyed red hair hung loosely around her shoulders, brown eyes glancing peculiarly at select individuals that passed by. Slim fitting black jeans hugged around her legs and stopped short at her ankles, where black and white polka dotted slip-ons could be seen situated on her feet. A red cotton shirt clung to her curvy torso, long sleeves reaching down to the tips of her fingers. Around her neck a long black and white striped scarf was wrapped in a loose fashion. So she was neither “with it” nor attempting to make some sort of fashion statement, she was just Roe…. Roanna Davies. Due to her unaccommodated wardrobe for the weather, goosebumps covered the girl’s skin beneath the clothing. Damn it, the chills were getting the best of her.
Normally it was more likely that one would catch Roe in a thrift store rather than on the likes of Fifth Avenue, but she actually bought clothes anywhere that suited her fancy. Designers meant nothing to her, so long as one particular article of clothing was cool in her eyes, she’d wear it. At that moment only a plastic bag hung on her right arm, a pair of sparkly red flats were it’s singular contents. Roe had seen them and decided to go for the whole, “Wizard of Oz” theme. I wish I were home, I wish I were home… Damn it, I wish I were home. Yep, the inspiration just rung in her ears when she’d caught sight of them.
It was then that the store window of one of the more mainstream clothing stores called Anchor Blue caught her attention. After a bit of pushing and shoving through Christmas shoppers, she then found herself standing in front of it. The manikin in the display was wearing these sock-like arm gloves that started just above the elbow and halted at the wrist. “Hmmm,” she muttered to herself. These were of course pink and white, not exactly her colors, but maybe there were different ones inside. Then again, maybe she didn’t feel like going through the effort, having forgotten how miserable the shopping experience was as the holidays approached.

Ashton had no clue what he was doing at this.. Street, avenue, whatever. He didn't see why he was here, he didn't shop for designer things.. Much. His layered colored hair was combed to perfection the bottom layer being an icy blue color while the top layer, and less amount of hair was white. It didn't quite match the boys dark brown eyes but, well, he could always get contacts to change the color of his eyes, couldn't he? Today he wore a pair of black vans with hot pink laces. Above them, and on his legs were a pair of black skinny jeans held up by a hot pink belt with rings placed at one inch intervails all the way around. On his upper body was a lime green shirt with royal purple writing that said 'Lion and Tigers and Bears Oh my!' With a picture of each animal above the word and the words Oh My on the back in big bold purple lettering. Over this shirt was a black jacket, it wasn't zipped up at all today, seeing as it wasn't as cold to Ashton today. It was just a simple black hoodie with nothing on it. A change for once right? Of course the boy wore gloves, hot pink one fingerless coming up to about an inch past his knuckles. The gloves cover his wrist enough to have the jacket sleeves over lapping it. Oh yes, the boy was a walking rainbow, and proud of it.

Out of the corner of her eye, Roanna caught sight of this ‘walking rainbow’ pacing down the Avenue amongst crowd. An immediate smile appeared across her face, brightening her features. Hell ya, now that’s what I call daring to be different! she thought righteously. Any notion of those ‘arm socks’ of hers that had previously been on her mind had now completely disappeared. She turned from her previous distraction and approached this outrageous individual. “Damn, I live for originality, and I sure as hell know it when I see it. Nice strands man, I dig it” Roe remarked, referring to Ashton’s hair.
Of course hair color wasn’t the only way to stand out, but Roe personally loved it. So many people were so sensitive about their hair, particularly women. Human beings were such creatures of habit. She personally found it much more interesting to walk between the lines rather than right on them. Of course she really couldn’t say much in her defense about her own views considering that she kept her hair pretty much the same color all of the time. Certainly, the red wasn’t natural, but she’d been dying it red for so many years that it practically was. So, maybe she was a hypocrite.
“My name’s Roe,” she stated up front, offering a hand in greeting.

After having hate glares thrown to him since he came out side a change in one's tone and look was welcomed to Ashton with open arms. "Haha, thank you! A change in a person's response to my hair is a welcome change from these old women and men."Ashton said reffering straightly to the young men and women around him. If he didn't like someone, he was bound to call them old or some other form of grandma and grandpa. "I like your hair color to! I would do that, but I found out a while ago red doesn't work on me."He said laughing and shaking the offered hand. "Nice to meet you Roe, I'm Ashton."Ashton said grinning happily at the new friend he had found. "What brings you out here?"He asked putting his arms out, not very wide, but to give the picture he was waving them out at the crowd and stores.

Roanna chuckled, “Well not everybody can appreciate that art which we call unique. Especially in this day and age, you just can’t let it getcha down.” That’s how she saw it anyway. Sure, sometimes it was self demeaning to get treated nastily by people just for being different, but most of the time she didn’t give a damn. Seriously, if somebody found it entertaining to insult her for her own looks, then she’d only advise them to go look in the mirror. Not at their outside appearances, but at the person that they’d become on the inside.
A smile lit her face brightly upon receiving the compliment in return. Yeah, she didn’t give a damn about what people thought, but it still felt good to receive a nice compliment sometimes. “Pleasure to meet you as well Ashton, and thank you.” Continuing, she elaborated on the red a bit, “Haha, you are so right, red is not everyone’s color. You know what color isn’t mine? Blonde. I tried it once a long while back and I looked like… an alien. And it’s not even like I've got a ‘goth’ attitude or image going on, I actually like blonde hair quite a lot, it just made me look like someone sickly.”
“Actually that’s quite an interesting question really,” Roe remarked, just noticing Ashton’s shirt. Lions and Tigers and Bears…Oh my! it matched her intended theme for her new shoes perfectly. “I suppose one of the reasons I came out here was to pick up these,” she said as she pulled the red sparkly flats out of the plastic bag on her arm. “You’re not the only one who’s visited the Wizard of Oz,” she grinned. Placing the shoes back in the bag, she finished answering the question, “I actually don’t come out here much, it’s too cold and crowded, just thought I’d come and browse the holiday bargains I guess. And what about yourself?”

Ashton laughed. "Agreed, bt really, they're just way jealous of our rad radness."He said nodding with a small grin on his face. It was nice to meet someone that wouldn't jump down his throat about his hair, admitedly he knew alot of people who weren't jumping down his neck, but he also saw the looks that people tried to hide from him. Oh, yes he knew them quite well.
"Ah, your welcome, but it was my pleasure meeting someone that wouldn't jump down my throat over my hair. After all, it is just hair."He said nodding and listening to her speak. "Yeah, I didn't do good with all blonde hair, when I had brown hair, with a few blonde streaks in it I was okay, but when I had all blonde. Horrible."He laughed as he pictured him and her as blondes. "Agreed, blonde isn't our best color, next I want to try like a royal purple and lime green combo, after I grow bored with this."ashton said pointing to his hair.
"Sparkles!"Ashton said easily made happy by the bright sparkles from the red flats. "Ha! I'm quite glad about that, I was worried I was the only one who liked the Wizard of Oz."Ashton said smiling "Me? Truthfully, I don't know yet, I'm not really one to shop much. And I guess, I just came out for a walk."Ashton said truthfully shrugging. "And to see the reactions to my hair."He added laughing.

OOC://So sorry for my slowliness. -she frowns-
BIC://Roanna smiled, brown eyes drifting back towards Ashton’s hair as he’d pointed at it. “Damn, and you most certainly have made an art out of your hair haven’t you? That’s hella tight,” she remarked. Then she questioned him curiously, lightly running her fingers through her reddish strands. “Royal purple and lime green huh? Anything in particular that brought on the inspiration for that combination?”
Roe nodded and chuckled at his enthusiasm, “Mmhmm, sparkles… not as cool as stripes, but they slightly outdo polka-dots.” Then she waved a free arm in the air, “Psh, I love the Wizard of Oz. Hell, it’s those who don’t know what’s cool that would ever say anything against the movie. I mean come on, it’s from the days when it was a miraculous thing for the film to come in color.”
She intently listening to his response to her question. “Ah and don’t forget, you came out to here to meet me as well,” she laughed. “So besides snide remarks, what other reactions have you gotten to your hair?” Roe questioned him curiously as her brown eyes scanned the faces of the individuals around them. She honestly couldn’t understand why Christmas was supposed to be the happiest season of all yet all of these people looked so grouchy and miserable. In a way in was perplexing, in another it was sad, and in all it was depressing… it seem to her like New York needed a rude awakening.

OOC: Its fine, I don't mind. BIC:"Its the only place I have left. I can't stand needles so that pretty much takes out tattoos and piercings. I only barely got my lip ring."He told her. Even though the other reason he didn't get a tattoo was because they are ugly. He didn't know why he thought this he just did, he found them unatractive and ugly. "Nope, I just like those two colors alot. And they go together really good."Ashton said nodding.
"Stripes rock, polka-dots not so much, but sparkles, they take the cake!"He said laughing. "The Wizard of oz is like, the king or queen of all movies! I love old time plays and movies. They're just so, not corny like now a days."Ashton said nodding his head then listening to what else she had to say. "Oh yes, I'm psyhic, so I ran out here to meet you! 'Cides the snide remarks people have seen me and turned the other way, or given me the strangest looks you ever did see!"Ashton said laughing, a bit of his southern accent comming out as he talked.

Understandingly, Roe nodded slightly at Ashton’s words. She knew where he was coming from because she herself used to have this thing about needles, that is before she adopted this attitude of there ain’t no damn thing to fear, but fear itself. It wasn’t as easy as that of course, after all fears always did exist for a reason, it had taken a lot of mental discipline in order to get over it. Needless to say, she still didn’t care for needles much, but she also wasn’t constantly getting new piercings done or anything. “Aww no tattoos? But those are fun,” she grinned, “Well so long as they’re not over done that is. One is plenty for me.” Pausing for a moment, she crossed her arms and rubbed her palms against her shoulders in attempt to rid herself of some of the goosegumps that corroded her arms in the chills. “But I do say that hair is definitely the least painful route to go,” she concluded.
“You’re psychic hmm? Well now, that is pretty impressive. A guy with blue and white hair who likes The Wizard of Oz and holds outstanding psychic abilities. Now I am certain that I’m not lucky enough to make acquaintance with somebody like that everyday,” she stated with a smile, teeth nearly chattering. Continuing, she admitted truthfully, “Now don’t get me wrong, I was practically born and bred a New Yorker, but that still hasn’t improved my ability to withstand the cold. Care to take refuge in one these stores?"

"They aren't in bulk! Maybe by itself it might be, but I've never cared for them much, so I never got one."Ashton said shrugging. "Yeah, over done and its just disgusting, and yes it its, doesn't hurt, and all can see it unless you were a hat."Ashton agreed with her on this then laughed. "Yes I am, I'm a one of a kind!"He said laughing. "Agreed, I was born and raised on a farm and I still dislike when its to warm out."Ashton said. "Lead the way, to whichever store, I'll follow."Ashton said nodding and sweeping his arms out dramatically. Yes, he was a drama kid always liked to cause it.

Roanna nodded understandingly, “Eh, well I can’t blame you if you just never cared for tattoos much, we all have our personal preferences. It’s the same with piercings, hair colors and styles, movie choices, food phobias, and pretty much anything else you can think of, we’re all different. The shitty thing is that a lot people try to hide the fact that they’re individual people who think on their own, even though that’s one of the features that makes the world so great.” Well those who knew Roe would have felt sorry for Ashton at this point, because once you made acquaintance with this redhead, it was hard to get her to shut up or go away. Here she was beginning to rant about her world views from the much narrower topics of hair, piercings, and tattoos. She continued more passionately, almost angry, “And you know I really hate it that society is trying to make this very individuality into a bad thing. I fucking hate it that people are trying to tell me it’s such a terrible thing to have a mind of my own…” Her voice trailed off when she realized her rage was turning into a fit. Some might’ve found it amusing to find this five foot two inch eighteen year old so vocal, it had gotten her into some trouble before.
Despite that fact though, her demeanor allowed her to bounce back quickly. “But anyway,” she began, crossing her hands and rubbing her palms against her arms once more. “Let’s see, now just choosing a store to invade,” she finished as her brown eyes scanned the names of the stores around them. “How about ‘Hot Topic‘?” the girl suggested as she read the sign of the mainstream store. Then she found remembrance of the issue that the particular store was usually a small, crowded atmosphere and frowned slightly. “Or maybe Abercrombie & Fitch?” she muttered toward Ashton, naming another, fully aware of the brand-name of the store. She looked up at him again and spoke with a grin, “It makes no difference to me though, these stores are all pretty much equals in my eyes.”
